Info on him and the team

Personality:
On one hand, when looking at Jaime, he appears to be a normal teenaged boy. On another hand, depending on when anyone happens to catch him, he appears to be a normal teenaged boy who sometimes talks to himself because there’s actually talking alien technology grafted into his spine, making him maybe not-so-normal.

The latter is actually more so the case. Not bringing the alien technology in, Jaime’s just like any other teenager. He’s easily excitable, rather quirky, sometimes sarcastic, somewhat quick-tempered, and is generally pretty easy to get along with. Also, like most teenagers, he’s also prone to making mistakes. However, there’s more to him than just being a teenager. One night, when he was on his way home, he witnessed an explosion that would change his life forever. When he witnessed this explosion and freaked out because his shirt was on fire, he came across a
giant blue beetle
which could have easily been a Pokemon because there is no way a beetle could be that big…but since there aren’t Pokemon in his canon, it just appeared to be a giant, mysterious beetle. Little did Jaime know was that it was actually alien technology and upon picking it up, the scarab instantly grafted itself into his spine, transforming him into Blue Beetle. Since then, Jaime hasn’t exactly been the same.

After that incident, Jaime's been playing superhero, which shows his good nature and willingness to do the right thing and help others. It also shows how easily excitable he is, as he could do various things such as fly as much as he pleases, which could double as fun. He could do things no one could ever dream of now. When he is approached by fellow superheroes Wonder Girl and Nightwing, he was extremely skeptical about joining their team at first, but was somehow dragged into the fold anyway. Of course, this all worked out as Jaime ended up having a blast, happily joining them.

As far as his relationship with the scarab goes, it appears he’s always at odds with his new “partner”. Jaime likes to do things in a more sensible way. If there is a peaceful way to make a situation less intense, that is the road he likes to go down. Because of the softer way he likes to approach things most of the time, he always finds himself arguing with the scarab, as it usually advises him to go about situations in a more destructive manner, most of the time when that isn’t necessary. He always wants to do the right thing, despite what the scarab says. It is enough to literally cause Jaime to have outbursts, which make him look crazy as no one knows the scarab can talk, so it looks like he’s arguing with himself. It should also be noted that he’s quick tempered, which could also be blamed on the scarab sometimes.

Jaime is also extremely loyal to his friends and teammates. If something is wrong, he wants to help when he’s needed. When one of his friends was having issues at home and threatened to run away, Jaime went looking for him to calm him down, despite the scarab thinking it was pointless. Unfortunately, by the time Jaime was at the meeting place, his friend was missing. He spent several hours trying to find him, even accusing his friend’s stepdad of causing physical harm to him and getting rid of him. However, it turned out his stepdad had nothing to do with it and his friend was indeed missing, much to Jaime’s sadness.

He also tends to freak out at times and has been described as odd, as evidenced by a mission he went on during New Year’s Day when he was still familiarizing himself with the scarab’s abilities.

At times, Jaime is also unsure of himself. Though he enjoys being a hero, he’s still relatively new, having only been in the business for a few months and doesn’t know much about the scarab attached to his back. He feels cheated, as he’s one of the few people on his team who has never had or met his mentor to guide since his predecessor has died. He wonders if he’s doing a good job living up to what his predecessor has done before he died.

Despite his issues with the scarab, Jaime’s a really good kid at the end of the day, always wanting to do the right thing, helping others if or when they need it, and most importantly, living up to the previous Blue Beetle who could have been his mentor.

Samples
First Person Sample: Uh...okay, is this thing on?

[Unknown to Jaime, the device actually is on, but nothing can be seen. Only his voice can be heard, and it's pretty easy to tell he's rather confused, maybe even a little panicked. Moments later, the video finally clicks on, revealing a dark-haired young man with a confused look that matches his voice.]

Finally! Okay, it’s clear I’m not home anymore, so who wants to fill me on what’s going and why—

[He pauses for a moment. Asking a stranger why his scarab’s actually not working might not be the best plan, as maybe hidden enemies could be here and take advantage of this fact. Instead, he clears his throat and continues, trying to figure out what to say.]

…and why I’m here?

[When he looks off to the side for a moment, as something seemed to catch his attention, his face shifts from confused to extremely freaked out once he sees what it actually is.]

dios mio! What is that?!

[The video then shifts over to a giant blue beetle moving toward the camera. Either way, beetles should not be that big to Jaime, and he doesn’t have his gear to fight it off, so he’s panicking.]

Seriously! What is that thing? Of course I wouldn’t have bug spray on me when this happens!

Third Person Sample:

He tried everything. No matter what he did, his armor wasn’t working. On top of that, the scarab also was quiet. Normally, Jaime would be okay with this, as he now doesn’t have to worry about what he calls a “hostile Jiminy Cricket” giving him terrible advice. However, the scarab did help in the sense that he was able to scan his surroundings for threats. Because he had neither the armor nor the scarab to help him figure things out, it looked like he was on his own. Well, mostly. He did, however, have his new partner Heracross to guide him, though he was still mildly freaked out by it as he has never seen a beetle so big before. He still kind of cool in a way, though; it reminded him of the scarab, except it was much bigger and actually listened to him.

If only the scarab acted that way, being a hero would have been much more fun and easier.

He can’t dwell too much on the armor not working or being a hero anymore right now. His next step is to try familiarizing himself with his new surroundings and trying to figure out where to go from here. Once he had all his things packed, he looked to his Heracross, nodded, and they headed out to explore.

Despite all the weirdness that has happened in the last few days, this place was actually not so bad from what he could tell. All the animals….or Pokemon, rather, that he’s stumbled upon were really cool. Sure, he’s seen his share of aliens and weird stuff back home, but he gets the feeling that even if he had the chance to tell his teammates about this, they probably still wouldn’t believe him. While Jaime was busy admiring everything at the moment, he didn’t realize another pokemon appeared, looking for a fight. His Heracross lightly nudged him and Jaime just smirked in return.

“Looks like I’m about to have my first battle, huh?”
